The ReadEasy has been designed from the ground upwards with ease of use in mind. With the press of just one logically located button, the user can be listening to their document within seconds.

Any user can also quickly learn how to operate the ReadEasy with the aid of only one button: the Help button. Once it has been pressed, you can find out what all the other buttons do, simply by pressing them.
ReadEasy’s keypad has high contrast and tactile embossed buttons, allowing both partially sighted and blind users to easily identify the keys they want to press.
The user does not have to worry which way round their document is placed in the ReadEasy, as it is intelligent enough to recognise a document in any orientation.
Whilst developing the ReadEasy, it quickly became clear that users preferred a separate keypad. This means that they do not have to be hunched over the machine whilst operating it. Instead, the user can simply sit back and relax whilst controlling the ReadEasy.
Accuracy and Speed
ReadEasy uses the latest technology; documents with very small font sizes, lists, bills, newspapers, and books with deep spines can all be scanned and read with superb accuracy.
One might think that with such accuracy, there would have to be a trade off in terms of scanning speed. This is not the case with ReadEasy!
Using specially selected components, the ReadEasy is the fastest performing reading machine available by over two times and is also whisper quiet in operation.
Less than a minute from being turned on, ReadEasy is ready to scan the first page. A standard document then takes only 18 seconds before it is being read out to you. Complicated newspaper documents with many columns and images take only 30 seconds!
Quality of Speech and Language Options
The ReadEasy uses the latest AT&T Natural voices for the highest quality speech available with superb intonation.
Every ReadEasy comes with four voices as standard, allowing the user to choose different voices as and when they want to:
- Audrey - British English Female Voice
- Charles - British English Male Voice
- Crystal - American English Female Voice Mike - American English Male Voice
The ReadEasy is available in most languages. Each additional language includes an high quality voice for that language and translated menus. There is no limit to the number of languages that can be installed.
Versatility
Even though the ReadEasy is very simple to use, it offers a very wide range of useful functions.
Multi-page documents
The user is not limited to single page documents. With the ReadEasy, whole chapters of books or multi-page letters etc. can be quickly and easily scanned into one file. Once the first page is being read, the user can silently add further pages to their document, meaning there are no irritating pauses once the first page has been read and the next is scanned! This is an invaluable feature when reading books.
Saving and Loading of Documents
The ReadEasy has an intuitive file management system to allow saving and loading of documents. When a document is saved, a sound file is recorded with the document using the built in microphone that allows the user to identify it. When loading a file, the user cycles through a list of the saved files and as they do, the sound file that has been recorded for that file is played back, allowing it to be identified and easily retrieved.
Import from and Exporting to MP3 Players
Users can plug in a USB MP3 player and choose to save their documents directly to it, in MP3 or plain text format, so they can be carried anywhere!
Plain text files that are on USB memory sticks can also be imported and read out loud using the ReadEasy.
CD Playing / Burning
ReadEasy allows the playing of any audio CD format including Daisy and MP3 CDs. Documents can also be saved directly to CD in either MP3 or standard CD audio format allowing you to listen to them on any standard CD player.
Other Information
Included Accessories
Included with every ReadEasy is a high quality pair of comfortable over ear headphones, allowing the user to listen privately to their documents. They have an in-line volume control, meaning the main speaker volume can be left alone when the headphones are plugged in.
